Arrival in the pouring snow…!

December 4, 2008

Got into Verbier last week to the amazing reception of walls of snow at the side of the road and having to fit my snow chains to get up the hill which is always a good feeling!!! My drive across France in convoy with my good friend Chris was fun as ever, this time we used our ski radios to chat to each other, not only saving the mobile phone costs but made us feel like we were starring in a driving style Top Gun!!

Got up the hill on the first lift come the next day as Nic Watkins of Run Jump Fly Productions said the snow and the lack of people was too good not to film, so having not ridden since the end of last winter due to injury i was searching for lines on the first morning, i was a little nervous!

After a couple of warm up runs we found an epic looking spine to shoot, Nic set up his cameras from a really cool angle and i went and hiked to the top, which was a bit of a lung buster on my first day at altitude for a while! Nic gave me the word over the radio that i was ready to drop, i ran the line through my head quickly and dropped! At the bottom after skiing a lovely powder filled ridge and bagging the first line of the season, myself and Nic both decided that if we could shoot stuff like that already in November then this is looking to be one of the best seasons we have had for a long time! (Touch Wood……)

You’ll be able to see some of the footage that we have got over the last week on www.downdays.eu come the 20th December and a program will be on there on the 20th of each month after that keeping you up to date with what we’re getting up to!

A few more friends have just arrived into town Camilla Stoddart and Beanie, so will get to go and shoot with Camilla next week hopefully and will try and get some nice shots to put on the site!

Will get on here again soon, with clouds coming in as i type and more snowfall meant to be on its way hopefully with some more stories with what we have been up to!!!

Cheers,

***Gearing up for the 08/09 Season***

October 29, 2008

Hey guys,

Been away for a while over the summer but am now back in the land of the living and gearing up towards the very close start of the 08/09 winter season!!

I am heading back to base myself in Verbier, living with my good friends Chris and Flossie! A few cool trips planned this winter, one to Japan and one to Norway to check the skiing out there hopefully! Also the Freeride World Tour have just released there competition dates so i will let everyone know which ones i am going to and where i’ll be and how i get on in them!

As you can see the website has been updated (thanks to the guys at Square Logic) with my new sponsors for this year, and a massive thanks to them for taking me on! A couple of the companies you wont have heard of yet but i am sure you will have by the end of the season… Here is a little bit about them below:

Natives.co.uk: These guys help loads of people wanting to do seasons out from finding jobs to places to live in resorts, there a really nice bunch of guys and will be helping me out this year. Thanks Becs! See if they can help you: www.natives.co.uk.

Nordica: Thanks to Gregor for looking after me again this year, the boots last year were awesome and i’m sure the ones this year will be the same, if anyone is interested i will be riding the Nordica Speedmachine 10’s. Also with the help of Michelle at ProFeetin London i have had them cutom fitted and they did an awesome job, would recommend them to anyone! Check them out www.profeet.co.uk.

Dr Zipe Optics: These guys are sorting my eyewear out again this year, thanks to Jay Earls for sorting me out and the goggles and sunnies look even better this year! Check them out at www.drzipe.com.

So thats about it for now, will keep the blog regularly updated from now on and through the winter, you will also be able to check out regular footage of what us guys on the Storm team will be doing this winter on Storm TV off the Storm website so check it out from December onwards! I would finally like to thank Camilla Stoddart for all of her amazing photos from last year and cant wait to get even better ones with her this year, check her work out at www.whiteroompictures.com.
